You may have heard that we’ve just named a new president of Levi’s® brand: James Curleigh.
This was a critically important decision for us. And I want to tell you why I think James is the perfect fit for this iconic brand – and vice versa. If you’ve had the chance to hear him speak, and if you know anything about the Levi’s® brand, I think you’ll know what I mean.

Our hometown of San Francisco is abuzz this weekend.
Why?
It’s the official 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Golden Gate Bridge.
If you’ve visited here, surely you have a picture of the iconic structure. No trip to the City by the Bay is really complete without one.
We actually have something in common with the bridge beyond the fact that we share a hometown. Rivets.

It takes one motorboat ride and a half-hour walk through the Guatemala highlands to get to my job every morning, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
My name is Delia Mendoza. I work for Mercado Global, a cutting-edge nonprofit, Fair Trade organization that connects indigenous Guatemalan women like me to sales opportunities in the United States.

Today, May 20, is what we call the “birthday of blue jeans” – the date Levi Strauss & Co. and Reno, Nevada tailor Jacob Davis received U.S. patent number 139,121 for the process of strengthening men’s work pants with copper rivets. That was 139 years ago.

One of the great things about working here at Levi Strauss & Co. is the connection so many of you have had with our products over our long history..
The Levi’s® brand is recognizing that on its Facebook page with its new historic timeline. On the timeline, you can learn everything about the company, from its founding – in 1853 – all the way to the brand’s latest, innovative products.

Given its San Francisco roots, it’s no surprise that the Dockers® brand should harken back to its West Coast origins for inspiration. That’s certainly the case with the brand’s new Art of Khaki collection.
If the mod check shirting looks familiar, it’s likely because you’ve seen an image of Jack Kerouac or Lawrence Ferlinghetti or one of their Beat Generation contemporaries wearing one. (We own no rights, so you’ll have to Google it yourself.)

In the ongoing intrastate rivalry between San Francisco and Los Angeles, there’s one category in which compact San Francisco has a definite advantage: bicycling to work.
At least, that’s my perspective.

San Francisco today – Bike to Work Day – presented Levi Strauss & Co. its Bicycle Friendly Business Award.
The first-of-its-kind award recognizes the company – and four others in the city – for its innovative and effective programs encouraging employees to bike to work. In our case, this includes free bicycle parking, a changing room, lockers and showers.
Bicycling is also part of our business – with the Levi’s® Commuter Series of innovative clothing, designed by cylists, for cyclists.

If you need a lift today, here it is.
Our Levi's® brand colleagues in Korea recently worked on a video with the Korea National Ballet to demonstrate Levi's® Stretch to Fit jeans.
The woman in the video is classically trained Kim Li Hoe. The man, with a bboy -- or breakdance -- background, is Lee Dong Hoon. Together, they create magic on the streets of Seoul.
