We get letters.
Working in Consumer Relations, of course, that makes sense. And a recent one made our day.
On Christmas Day 1983, Mike MacDonnell got his first pair of Levi's®. That's him, pictured above, reading the jeans label on that Christmas morning.
Mike recently wrote that his older stepbrother gave him the jeans, even going so far as to let Mike pick them out at the San Jose, Calif., Miller's Outpost before he wrapped them to put under the tree.

“I was dead when I got to WORLD, but it has saved my life,” one woman living with HIV/AIDS said.
She’s part of WORLD, short for Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Disease, an organization that has supported women living with HIV/AIDS in Northern California for the past 20 years.
Organizations like WORLD link women to health and social services that help them cope with the stigma and discrimination associated with the disease, which can have as many harmful consequences as the virus itself.

Curtis Romeo is a stylist at the Levi’s® Outlet I manage in St. Augustine, Florida. Earlier this week, he left the store to get a bite to eat and head to the martial arts class he teaches – on his motorcycle.
You see where this is heading, right?
On his way to class, another vehicle stopped short in front of him, and that led to Curtis flipping over his bike and sliding across the road. His motorcycle landed on top of him.

Today is Thursday, World Water Day. And today, I’m wearing the same jeans I was wearing Monday. And Tuesday. And Wednesday.
And on top of that, I haven’t even washed them.
It’s a dirty little habit.
Fortunately, I’m joined by my Levi Strauss & Co. colleagues around the world. We’re celebrating the World Water Day by trying something a little different.

This Thursday is World Water Day. And we’re trying something interesting in our offices and stores around the world.
Starting today, for five days, employees and store associates will be asked – not required – to wear the same pair of jeans or khakis every day.
In the picture above, that’s a sponge, securely attached to someone’s jeans. If they wash them, the sponge expands – and everyone will know!

It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that our recently remodeled headquarters building here in San Francisco has recycled denim insulation in the walls. About 25,500 pairs’ worth.
All that blue has just added up to gold for us – in the form of LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, highlighting the building’s high performance in multiple areas of green design and energy use.

You’ve worn those jeans for years. It’s time to retire them. But what to do?
Rose Schumacher knows.
Rose makes quilts. For the homeless. From old jeans.
The Wichita, Kansas, grandmother began quilting blankets for the homeless six years ago. She collected used jeans from friends, neighbors and members of her community. Then she transformed these once-loved pants into warm blankets, which she donated to The Lord’s Diner, a faith-based non-profit organization that provides dinner seven days a week for those in need.
