Do Models Eat Pizza?

Do models eat pizza? That’s the question our Denizen™ colleagues asked.

And they found the answer while shooting the brand’s Asia-Pacific Spring & Summer 2012 campaign.

You’ll find the answer in the video.

It's a Pitti

Of the 1,100 exhibitors descending upon Florence earlier this month to show their apparel, it’s a safe bet that only Dockers® brought a bear.

In this case, the bear was Bear Grylls. He wasn’t actually at Pitti Uomo in person, but the trade fair provided the perfect opportunity for us to introduce Bear as the face of the current Dockers® global marketing campaign.

And Now For Something Completely Different

The first pop-up mall is up and running in London. A pop-up mall. Now, that's different.

And Levi Strauss & Co. is there -- times two! Both Dockers® and Levi’s® have stores – shipping containers, actually -- at what’s known as Boxpark Shoreditch.

Shoreditch is, among other things, an area of London and is served by the Shoreditch High Street Station on the London Overground. Developers would like to build a shopping mall at the station.

A Better Tomorrow? Show Us The Way.

Seriously, show us how it’s done.

The Levi’s® brand has teamed up with the American Film Institute and is calling on filmmakers to deliver a visualization of a better tomorrow.

Once you submit your treatment here, you’ll be considered to produce a five-minute short film about a tomorrow that is better than today.

There will be six winners, each of whom will receive $5,000 to make their film, as well as an additional $500 for a Levi’s® wardrobe for their cast.

Greenlight for Sustainability

At Levi Strauss & Co., we’re working to build sustainability into everything we do. But we can’t restore the planet alone. So it makes sense to tell others what we’re doing – and hope they’re inspired to make a difference themselves.

This week, my Brussels-based colleagues and I had just such an opportunity. We partnered with Greenlight for Girls, whose ambitious mission is to inspire young girls to change the world.

Get Your Bearings

A torn parachute, a bad landing, a broken back. What would you do next?

If you were Bear Grylls, you’d climb Mt. Everest.

After a life-changing accident with the British Special Services in Southern Africa that almost left him paralyzed, adventurer Bear Grylls used the powerful hope of his childhood dream to inspire his 18-month rehabilitation and become one of the youngest men in history to summit the tallest mountain on Earth at the age of 23.

Inspired?

The inspiration for Levi's® Spring 2012 collection was the small California coastal community of Sea Ranch.

Ever been there?

Beautiful and somewhat isolated, about a hundred miles north of San Francisco, Sea Ranch is a quiet mixture of ocean spray, native flora and only about 1,300 permanent residents. It's a favorite Bay Area escape-to-nature.

So ... what did the Levi's® designers do with this inspiration?

Supporting Pioneers Around the Globe

The Levi's® brand recently chose five pioneers around the globe who've dedicated themselves to making the world better. An admirable goal.

The brand then asked for your voice on Facebook to spread the message. As a result, the pioneers' programs were supported and real lives were changed.

This video tells the story of their impact -- and yours. Nice work, all around!

Like We Said...

The whole idea behind our Care Tag for Our Planet is to encourage consumers to reduce the environmental impact of caring for their jeans. Our message is wash your clothes less often, wash in cold water, line or air dry, and donate unneeded clothes.

A student at the Melbourne School of Design recently did some research on the whole "wash-less" approach. Turns out, it works just fine!

Check out what Masters candidate Tulia Jack discovered -- in this video by the University of Melbourne.
