The Courage to Drive Change in China

Thomas Cai’s organization, AIDS Care China, is helping to change the face of the HIV/AIDS response in China.

If you take a few minutes to watch the moving video below, you’ll see Thomas forging relationships with doctors, building community leaders in the battle against AIDS and, simply put, getting things done.

How Would You Say Thanks?

Our friends at Dockers® -- home of fine pants and Man Grants – have a nice challenge: Tell them how you’d say thanks to someone in your life with $2,000, and you might have the opportunity to do just that!

Tomorrow being Thanksgiving Day, this seems like an appropriate contest.

Log on to facebook.com/dockers, find the Win $2k link, and follow the directions.

Time’s running out. The contest ends at 5 p.m. Eastern Time Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2011.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Breaking Down Barriers

Equality comes in all shapes and sizes – sometimes, it may even come in the form of a savings account.

19-year-old Imre, pictured above, lives in Hungary with his mother and four younger siblings. He is also a qualified mason and the breadwinner of his family. As a man of Roma descent, however, he faces discrimination when applying for a job or credit.

Benefit Braddock

Odds are, you know about Braddock, the former steel town outside Pittsburgh that has seen better days.

In part because of its mayor, John Fetterman, and a number of other dedicated individuals, Braddock has made something of a comeback. But there’s still much to be done – to fix what’s broken.

The Levi’s® brand decided music might help.

Girls Unite in San Francisco

If you paid a visit to Levi’s Plaza this past weekend, you witnessed the power that teenaged girls have to change the world.

On November 12, 2011, Levi Strauss & Co. hosted San Francisco’s first Girl Up Unite for Girls tour. Girl Up is a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that gives American girls the opportunity to channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for some of the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls.

The Right Pair of Jeans. With Braces.

Over the years I’ve sported numerous iterations of the twisted jean, a popular style where the inseam rotates to the exterior at the bottom of the pant. More recently, I’ve been looking for something else, but didn’t quite know what I was looking for, vaguely hoping that I would just know it when I saw it.

Dockers® Steps It Up

If you haven’t taken a look at Dockers® lately, it’s time.

The brand just showed off its Spring/Summer 2012 line to fashion editors. We could sing the praises, but we’ll let the editors who attended the New York event do the work for us.

Details style editor Eugene Tong: “Dockers® is steppin’ it up. Love the idea of a dress pant that fits like a khaki. The SF khaki is solid and looks like a great men’s staple.”

The Amazingly Creative Sagmeister

One of the best parts of my work is interacting with amazingly creative people – at Levi’s® and beyond.

In the “beyond” category, Stefan Sagmeister is up at the top. The Austrian-born artist is one of the most original graphic designers of his generation. And over the past several years, we’ve been lucky enough to work with Stefan on several projects.
