Levi's® and the Golden Fleece
At first glance, the title of this post reads like a tale from Greek mythology. But that was Jason – of Argonauts fame – and the Golden Fleece. This Golden Fleece is linked to the Levi’s® brand.
You see, the image of the Golden Fleece suspended by a ribbon is a Brooks Brothers trademark. And Levi’s® brand and Brooks Brothers have just announced an exclusive collection of jeans, made in the United States.

Of Butts and Boots and Motorcycle Scoots
When I pulled on my Levi’s® jeans that morning late last month, little did I know that they’d save my rear end later that day.
I was on vacation from my job as a U.S. Post Office manager in Texas, driving through the mountains of Arkansas – seeing the sights from the seat of my 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
You can probably guess what happens next.

A Troubadour For Our Times
This week, Annie Lennox headlined a historic rally of global AIDS leaders and advocates in Vienna, Austria, to underscore the importance of human rights in the response to HIV/AIDS. The event drew thousands of local residents and delegates of the 18th International AIDS Conference taking place.
Wearing a shirt reading “HIV POSITIVE” – a striking statement of solidarity with all those living with the virus around the world – Lennox bounded on stage and belted out "Little Bird," the up-tempo anthem: “I am just a troubled soul who’s weighted to the ground / Give me the strength to carry on till I can lay this burden down.”

We All Want to Work
What if your own health situation kept you from helping others with the same health issues? What if your life experience and expertise prevented you from doing your job?
That’s the situation for many of my friends – friends who are HIV-positive and working in the global HIV/AIDS response.

Gin in Rome

HIV/AIDS – From the Briefing Room to the Board Room. And Beyond.
Here’s something to think about: Every 9½ minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV.
With wars, economic issues and an oil spill dominating the headlines this summer, it’s not surprising that such HIV/AIDS facts slip off the front pages of newspapers and news websites.
But it’s disturbing to see such a fact now, some 30 years after HIV first captured our attention, especially given that HIV transmission can largely be avoided.

"Ready to Work" in Braddock
On any given day, you’ll find me in Braddock, Penn., a small borough in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
If you know anything at all about Braddock, it’s probably that it’s a steel town that – like the U.S. steel industry itself – has fallen on hard times.
I’m a farmer here, working full time, growing produce in the city.

Levi, meet Betty. Betty, Levi.
It’s not every day you hear our founder Levi Strauss mentioned in the same breath with Betty White.
But this is one of those days.
Both are among those announced today as 2010 inductees to the California Hall of Fame.

Down and Dirty
In San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood, the variety of either highly ranked or appropriately cool restaurants and clubs make this largely working-class neighborhood a place where locals and hipsters alike can get down.
On Valencia Street, Levi’s® is providing a space to get dirty – a print workshop.
