As a Dockers® menswear designer, it makes sense to me to see how our clothes respond to the real world – even if that world includes a skateboard and some tricks. So I convinced a few friends to join me in putting the Dockers® Alpha Khaki to the test on the streets of San Francisco. The Alpha is a hybrid-sort of design, coupling the best elements of jeans with the more refined characteristics of khaki. What you end up with is a jean’s durability, rugged construction and slim fit – with the slightly more polished effect of a khaki.

You’ve seen the headlines.Across the United States and beyond, education cuts continue to erode programs and services in public schools. As a result, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for students of all ages to acquire the knowledge and tools necessary to confront the looming social, economic, and environmental burdens they’re likely to inherit. We face an uncertain future, and now, more than ever, applied learning is key.

Dear Dockers,Thank you for reinvigorating my belief in khakis (or is it chinos?). I’ve been on the prowl for non-jean pants recently, and the pair of “Slim Tapered Khaki – Pleated in Wood Chip” I just purchased are fitting the bill quite nicely. The taper is a playful throwback to my 90’s upbringing, the pleats a nice “(expletive deleted) you” to all my flat front pants. And in general, the finishes (lining, zipper, etc.) are of a quality I didn’t necessarily expect of Dockers, no offense.

Okay guys, how long – as in length – should you wear your pants? It’s a puzzler for many. But you’ve come to the right place. When it comes to pant length, I truly believe the same two rules apply whether we’re talking about jeans, khakis or smarter dress trousers:Rule #1: Pants should never be worn too longRule #2: Pant should never be worn too short. It’s all about the break.

No matter where in the world I travel – and I do my share – if I pick up a bottle of Coca-Cola, I know what I’m getting. It’s the same when I spot that familiar bottle of Absolut in a local market. There’s no mystery about what’s inside.I don’t typically mix Coke and Absolut, but in this case I will. These are two brands that are globally known, highly respected, and unfailingly consistent. And they’ve each reached this pinnacle by a relentless focus on the customer.

Steven Alan’s approach to khaki design? “Eliminating the doofy-ness.”At least, that’s what he told the New York Times.I think he did it.

If there’s anything I like less than moving, I can’t think of it right now. Oh, okay. War. Pestilence. Hunger. Stuff like that. But moving isn’t far behind. Even the obligatory moving cuisine of beer and pizza can’t make the badness go away. We’ve just wrapped up moving day at the home office of Levi Strauss & Co. Many of my colleagues and I had been holed up in temporary quarters – just across the way here at Levi’s Plaza – while workers fully renovated the main building.
