Like you, our hearts and thoughts are with the millions of people across the Carribean, United States and Canada whose lives have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.
To assist with the disaster relief efforts, the Levi Strauss Foundation has committed a total of $100,000 to the American Red Cross and grassroots organizations in affected areas. In addition, the foundation is double-matching our employees donations to disaster relief.
In the wake of the storm, the American Red Cross opened 112 shelters across 12 states, deploying more than 1000 workers and housing over 3200 people. It is also coordinating a response with other national partners, including YMCA, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Islamic Relief, AmeriCorps and Children’s Disaster services.
Stepping up to support disaster relief is one of the many ways the Levi Strauss Foundation helps the company live its values in communities where our employees live and work.
You can help too. The response to Sandy is a large, costly relief operation. To donate, visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
