From Founding Partner to Growing Coalition: Supporting San Francisco’s Comeback

San Francisco has been home to Levi Strauss & Co. since 1853, and it continues to be part of who we are today. That’s why Levi Strauss & Co. joined Gap Inc., JPMorganChase, Visa and Wells Fargo two years ago to found the Downtown Volunteer Coalition (DVC) — a corporate volunteer initiative designed to bring the business community together in meaningful, hands-on service across San Francisco.

Today, that coalition has grown from five founding companies to 15 active corporate partners, mobilizing more than 800 employees across 34 community projects and contributing more than 1,500 hours of service to local organizations.

The expanded coalition now includes:

  • Citizens Bank
  • Cisco
  • Crusoe
  • Deloitte
  • FleishmanHillard
  • Gap Inc.
  • Gensler
  • San Francisco Giants
  • Google
  • JPMorganChase
  • KPMG
  • Levi Strauss & Co.
  • United Airlines
  • Visa Inc.
  • Wells Fargo

From park restoration to neighborhood cleanups, this coalition is helping drive visible progress across San Francisco — and we’re proud to help lead it.

This week, nearly 400 volunteers supported projects across the city, including partnering with San Francisco Recreation and Parks, beautifying school and museum spaces, supporting community development projects and restoring 24 acres of the Mission Bay Parks network so families and neighbors can enjoy beautiful spaces. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and First Lady Becca Prowda joined the event to further highlight the important role companies play in revitalizing the city.

At LS&Co., we’ve always believed that our business has a responsibility to the people and places where we operate, with no greater manifestation of that belief than here in San Francisco.

“San Francisco is our home, and being a founding member of the Downtown Volunteer Coalition is one way we’re showing up for it,” said Alexis Bechtol, director of Community Affairs at LS&Co. “What’s so powerful is how quickly this effort has grown and seeing more companies and employees come together to take real, visible action across the city.”
