From emergency aid to financial literacy and asset building to scholarship programs, the Red Tab Foundation provides support to Levi Strauss & Co. employees, retirees and their families around the world.

We are employees helping employees. It’s as simple as that. The Red Tab Foundation was founded in 1981 to assist current and past employees unable to pay for life’s basic needs due to financial emergencies.
One-time Levi Strauss & Co. stock boy Jerry O’Shea, who rose up through the ranks to become vice president of marketing, invested $100,000 of his own money to initially fund the Red Tab Foundation. He was mindful of the thousands of manufacturing employees who, like himself, had devoted their lives to the company and who, if an emergency arose, had no financial cushion.
