Agents of Sustainable Change

Levi Strauss & Co.
July 25, 2014

For more than 160 years, Levi Strauss & Co. has endured by staying true to our values – empathy, originality, integrity and courage, so it’s always an honor to recognize others who are doing the same. Yesterday, some of the Bay Area’s top corporate citizens gathered for the annual San Francisco Business Times Corporate Philanthropy Awards & Summit. The breakfast served as a platform for discussion on change by bringing together the top 75 companies that have given the most to the community over the last year. In total, more than $260 million was contributed to the Bay Area by these companies in 2013. We were honored to make the list this year with so many other companies who have made their mark on the Bay Area.

Following the announcement of the top 75 companies, Kelly McGinnis, LS&Co.’s Chief Communications Officer, awarded New Resource Bank with the Community Partnership in Sustainability Award. This award recognizes New Resource Bank for going above and beyond simply writing a check.

Serving non-profits is a key part of New Resource Bank’s mission to advance sustainability. For example, in addition to providing loans to non-profits who make a positive impact on the environment, they also help non-profits make an even bigger impact by assessing clients’ internal sustainable practices. Clients are then provided a toolkit to help enhance their sustainability strategy. As a company who has stayed true to our values since the start, we’re inspired and honored to recognize another business that is leading by example and ingraining a community-first mindset into their business.

We were more than proud and humbled to be a part of yesterday’s event and of a community that values the importance of giving back. Congratulations to New Resource Bank and to all who made the list for being agents of change in the Bay Area.
