Message from the CEO

This is an exciting time for Levi Strauss & Co.

We have huge opportunities ahead of us.

Levi Strauss & Co. is so much more than a denim company — we are stewards of a legacy crafted through decades of commitment to service, quality, durability and style, underpinned by a guiding philosophy of profits through principles.

We are a dynamic global team that stretches across our retail locations, distribution centers and corporate offices, all of us committed to our brands, our values and each other. It is truly a remarkable place to work. We have the close-knit, supportive culture usually only found in smaller companies but the reach and might of a big, global brand — one loved and admired around the world.

Building on our proud 170-year-old legacy, we are now setting the stage for the next 170 years. Our immediate focus is on accelerating profitable growth and innovating for the future while acting as a responsible steward of the natural resources we use and a thoughtful partner to the communities we touch. This is a hallmark of who we are as a company, and it serves as a source of pride and a compass for us all.

We are committed to fortifying our brands, led by Levi’s®, growing our direct-to-consumer business and diversifying our portfolio of product offerings, putting the consumer at the center of everything we do.

I could not be more excited to be leading Levi Strauss & Co. and working with all the amazing teams across the Levi’s®, Dockers® and Beyond Yoga® brands. We have huge opportunities ahead of us. It’s an honor to be part of this incredible organization as it enters our next phase of growth and becomes the company we’re destined to be.

Company Snapshot

Founded In 1853, Levi Strauss opened a wholesale dry goods business in San Francisco that became known as Levi Strauss & Co. Seeing a need for work pants that could hold up under rougher conditions, he and Jacob Davis, a tailor, created the first jean. In 1873, they received a U.S. patent for "waist overalls" with metal rivets at points of strain. The first product line designated by the lot number "501" was created in 1890.

Today we are one of the world's largest brand-name apparel companies and a global leader in jeanswear. We design and market jeans, casual wear and related accessories for men, women, and children under the Levi's®, Dockers®, Beyond Yoga, Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™ and Denizen® brands.
