Care For Our Planet

It’s easy to get caught up in all the talk about environmental sustainability and, then, wonder what you can do to really make a difference.

Truth is, you don’t have to buy a hybrid vehicle or put solar panels on your roof. You can start with something simple: changing the way you do your laundry.

Heartache in the Heartland

Powerful storms that spawned tornadoes ripped through the U.S. heartland today, killing at least nine people.

Hard-hit areas include Branson, Mo., where one twister struck the city’s historic downtown, known for its theaters and music venues. This, just days before the start of the Branson's busy tourist season. Both homes and businesses in the area have been damaged.

The Levi Strauss Foundation has donated $25,000 in aid to the American Red Cross, and our thoughts go out to everyone affected.

Strumming on the Runway

Odd jobs attract Morgan O’Kane. Before he performed at the Levi’s® show at New York Fashion Week on the banjo, O’Kane put his carpentry skills to work behind-the-scenes, building benches for similar runway events.

But it was his musical skill that caught the ear of the Wall Street Journal reporter Hilke Schellmann, who interviewed O’Kane for a video series featuring interesting odd jobs at Fashion Week.

Levi's® -- Who Knew?

My last look at Levi's® was in elementary school. And I still own the classic pair perloined from my father's Lower East Side men's clothing store, long before the neighborhood attracted European tourists paying top Euro to stay in trendy boutique hotels and shop BoHo chic.

We'll Open the Door for You

Walk past all too many European “High Street” stores -- including our own -- and you’ll find doors wide open. On top of that, you’ll be hit by a blast of air – an air curtain – that separates inside from out.

It’s as if the retailer is trying to heat or cool – depending on the season – the great outdoors.

Chinese New Year, Singapore-style

Imagine this: A group of people, about to have lunch, stand up from their seats. Salad ingredients start to fly. Auspicious Chinese phrases fill the air. Chopsticks are dropped (or should I say, thrown) into the giant salad bowl. Food falls on hands and arms on its way back down to the salad bowl. And aim for height while tossing! The higher the food is tossed into the air, the more fortunes for the coming year!
