My love for fashion and design started at a young age when my mom taught me how to sew. Growing up, and even throughout college while I studied neuroscience, I knew I needed an outlet to express my creativity. At the time, I didn’t have a TV, so the sewing machine and stereo became the faithful companions to my design and clothes-making. I created my own tube tops and stretch cropped pants using fabric from the store across the street, and even once made a cocktail dress out of cocktail napkins!

In the summer sci-fi flick Super 8, some movie-making middle-schoolers uncover an out-of-this-world monster. The discovery happens as they’re using their Super 8 camera to make a film of their own.
If the movie has inspired you to channel your inner J.J. Abrams or Stephen Spielberg – the guys behind Super 8 – chances are, you’re more likely to have access to a camera phone than a movie camera.
As it turns out, there’s an app for that! And it’s free for, as they say, a limited time only.

Today, New York will observe – and recognize – its first legal, same-sex marriages.
The ceremonies follow last month’s action by New York lawmakers to approve marriage equality -- an action that we, as a company, applaud.
Why do we care? For us, it’s all about equality.

For the past 25 years, I've been taking my kids and grandkids to the Stern Grove Festival. To me, it’s the best concert series in the San Francisco Bay Area, and even better, it’s free to all.
Stern Grove is a recreation park in San Francisco that also serves as a venue for the performing arts. It’s dazzling to experience the power of a gospel choir, the rhythms of a salsa band or the ethereal movement of a corps de ballet while picnicking amongst the giant redwood trees.

Explosive is one way to describe the work of Portugese street artist Vhils. Not just because of the impact it has when you see it, but also because Vhils uses explosives and, yes, other, quieter tools to create it.
The Levi’s® brand recently partnered with Vhils for a series of works that recognize some pioneers of today’s Berlin. The commission honored the spirit of the brand’s “Go Forth” campaign and its new global theme, “Now is our Time.”

When you’re in this line of work, pushing for equality for all, you know a pioneer when you see one.
The Levi Strauss Foundation started its Pioneers in Justice initiative last year, setting out to support five of the most dynamic, next-generation leaders in the social justice field -- a field advocating for equal rights and opportunities for women, immigrants and other marginalized groups in the United States.

As a cyclist and a Levi’s® guy, I’m pretty excited about our new Commuter line – clothing designed for the needs of the urban commuter cyclist.

In just two days, the company that invented blue jeans brings its new brand to the U.S. We think that’s pretty cool.
In case you haven’t heard, the new brand is Denizen™, launched a year ago in Asia and now arriving in the Americas – in both the U.S. and Mexico.
