Introducing the Levi’s® Wear Longer Project

January 14, 2026

We’re thrilled to launch the Levi’s® Wear Longer Project, a new initiative by Levi’s® that empowers and educates young people to repair, refresh and reimagine their clothes — and teach others to do the same. The project aims to fill a growing knowledge gap among young people, teaching them the skills they need to repair and take care of their clothes.

Filling the Gap

Gen Z isn’t just following trends — they’re rewriting the rules. With a deep commitment to self-expression, thrifting and sustainability, the generation is redefining what style means.

And yet, a survey we commissioned in 2025 revealed a surprising gap: while 35% of Gen Z say they would keep their clothing longer if they knew how to fix or personalize them, 41% report having no repair or customization skills, from hemming a pair of pants to patching a hole.

That’s where the Levi’s® Wear Longer Project comes in. In a world where fast fashion dominates, the project prioritizes slowing down, getting creative and building confidence — by providing tools and education in making clothes last. These skills help young people express themselves while also reducing waste and preserving the stories woven into every seam.

Where You’ll Find the Levi’s® Wear Longer Project

Together in partnership with Discovery Education, we’ve designed all Wear Longer Project resources to be free, classroom-ready and meaningful — so everyone, everywhere, can join in. Discovery Education, a global edtech leader, brings decades of experience building immersive, accessible curriculum.

Starting this week, the Wear Longer Project kicks off across three main touchpoints:

  • Digital Curriculum:
There will be free, year-round access to step-by-step facilitator and student guides on the Wear Longer Project websiteThis is perfect for self-directed learners, educators and anyone curious to try something new.
  • In-Classroom Lessons:
Trained teachers and LS&Co. employee volunteers will bring repair education into schools, giving students structured activities that teach practical, lasting skills.
  • Community Workshops:
Led by our employees and local partners, these events offer hands-on experiences — repairing, upcycling and customizing clothes in real time.

“Every year, millions of wearable garments end up in landfills, many taking centuries to decompose. By teaching repair, customization and sustainable care, the Wear Longer Project interrupts that cycle,” said Alexis Bechtol, director of Community Affairs at Levi Strauss & Co. “It’s not just about saving clothes; it’s about building skills, fostering creativity and honoring the Levi’s® heritage of durability and quality.”
