The Levi’s® Wear Longer Project is a community engagement initiative that empowers the next generation to take fashion into their own hands — teaching young people how to repair, refresh and reimagine their clothes so they look better and last longer.

Through hands-on learning, free digital resources and community-based workshops, the Levi’s® Wear Longer project gives young people the practical skills needed to extend the life of the clothes they already own.

Our Why

Gen Z is reshaping style through their commitment to self-expression, thrifting and sustainability. But, compared to older generations, many lack the skills to truly make their clothing their own.

New research commissioned by Levi’s® found that 41% of Gen Z lack any clothing repair or customization skills — from altering a hem to sewing a custom patch —  compared to less than 25% of older generations who often learned these skills at home or in school. However, 35% of Gen Z say they would keep their clothing for longer if they knew how to alter or repair them.

Building on the Levi’s® brand’s legacy of crafting durable, quality clothing designed to last a lifetime, the Wear Longer Project aims to empower the next generation to reduce waste by repairing, refreshing and reimagining their clothes.

Explore the Research

A 2025 study commissioned by Levi’s® reveals a striking repair skills gap among Gen Z — and a huge opportunity to inspire creativity and reduce waste through education. Every year, millions of wearable garments end up in landfills, many taking centuries to decompose. By teaching repair skills, expanding community workshops and integrating sustainability into our stores and events, the Levi’s® Wear Longer Project aims to interrupt this cycle of waste and reinforces Levi’s® long-standing commitment to durability, quality materials and more responsible consumption.
