Why do you love your favorite pair of jeans? What makes you keep that sweater with the hole in it? We all have items like these in our closets — garments we hold dear and couldn’t imagine discarding. But why? What forms the basis of that connection, and how can the apparel industry work to create more of whatever that is?
During Climate Week, Levi Strauss & Co. hosted a panel discussion to explore these questions and highlight some of our thinking around sustainability, durability and conscious consumerism.
Moderated by Liz Segran of Fast Company, the panel featured Paul Dillinger (VP of Global Design, LS&Co.), Yvonne Watson (Vice Provost, The New School) and Emma Rogue (founder of the Rogue vintage shop and media platform) talking about how to design clothes that will be loved for generations, how to nurture emotional resonance with the garments in our closets and how to influence more thoughtful consumer decisions.
