My dog hates skateboarders.
The moment Henry hears the familiar sound of speeding hard rubber wheels on pavement, his tail goes between his legs and his ears go flat.
Once I find that the skateboarder isn’t barreling toward us – out of control at breakneck speed – I’ll usually pause to see what he – or she – can do. Not that I’m any great judge. Simply standing up on a small piece of moving wood-on-wheels is beyond my skills.
Needless to say, I’m blown away by Omar Salazar. And in a video to highlight the new 511™ Skateboarding Collection – a collaboration between the Levi’s® brand and Nike -- Salazar shows what can be done…when you know what you’re doing.
As for the collection, it was developed in secrecy over the last two years and features limited edition products combining the best of both brands: Timeless design, meticulous craftsmanship and the popular fit of the Levi’s® 511™ Skinny, plus Nike’s innovative performance-enhancing fabric technologies to make the denim lighter, stronger and more comfortable.
The 511TM Skateboarding Jean will be offered in two versions: Made in the USA 511TM Skateboarding Team Edition Jean and the 511TM Skateboarding Jean,as well as multiple colors and washes.
There’s also a skateboarding-specific denim Trucker jacket and a series of cobranded Nike Skateboarding shoes, including a special edition of Nike team rider Omar Salazar’s signature shoe.
The Made in the USA 511TN Skateboarding Team Edition Jean and Levi’s® X Nike Omar Salazar LR Signature Shoe will be available July 4th at select core skate shops worldwide. Others drop August 1st at a wider range of skate shops and select Levi's® stores, as well as online at eu.levi.com.
Based on the video above and the images below, shot in San Francisco, I think you’ll agree the product’s impressive.
Can’t wait to see what Henry thinks when we see it on the street.
