Levi Strauss & Co.’s Henderson distribution center in Nevada is raising the bar once more.
The facility has officially been recertified as a Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building, maintaining its distinction as the largest warehouse and distribution project globally to achieve this certification under LEED v4 for operations and maintenance. This designation measures the building’s energy and water efficiency and management, indoor environmental quality and more that promote health and well-being for both people and ecosystems.
When the Henderson distribution center was first awarded LEED Platinum certification in 2015, it stood out as a breakthrough in sustainable warehouse design. Today, it continues to deliver on that promise through smart, high-impact features, including:
- A solar panel array that provided approximately 17% of the site’s electricity needs in 2025
- A reflective white roof designed to reduce heat absorption
- Motion-sensor LED lighting
Our sustainability efforts at Henderson don’t stop at building design — they’re built into everyday operations. In 2025, the distribution center achieved a 93.4% waste diversion rate, earning TRUE Silver certification and exemplifying LS&Co.’s commitment to zero waste. With this latest LEED Platinum recertification, the facility remains a model for how large-scale distribution can align with climate goals and reduce resource consumption.
“It’s an honor to be recognized again for the hard work and intention that go into managing the environmental impact of the Henderson distribution center. This recertification reinforces that sustainability isn’t a one‑time achievement — it’s an ongoing commitment,” said Mark Yateman, EHS compliance manager at LS&Co. “Every upgrade we implement, every process we refine and every efficiency we gain brings us closer to reducing our footprint in meaningful ways.”
What we’re achieving at Henderson is just one example of how we’re managing the environmental footprint of our distribution and logistics network. For example, our Northampton distribution center in the U.K. has also achieved TRUE Silver certification for its waste diversion efforts. We’re also using ECO fuel to power our ocean freight wherever possible, meaningfully reducing emission output from shipping.
Together, these actions, among many others, move the needle as we set our sights on achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
