How Levi Strauss & Co. Showed Up for San Francisco in 2025

Levi Strauss & Co.
January 19, 2026

San Francisco has shaped our creativity and values at Levi Strauss & Co. for more than 170 years. Last year, we built off of our efforts to continue energizing and giving back to the city we call home — mobilizing employees, investing in public art and partnering with local nonprofits that meet pressing community needs across the city.

Read on to revisit highlights from 2025.

Rallying Companies to Volunteer Together

When we helped launch the Downtown Volunteer Coalition (DVC) with four other companies in 2024, the goal was simple: bring people back to our sidewalks through regular, handson service. In 2025, that coalition more than doubled in size as six additional employers joined — Citizens, Crusoe Energy, FleishmanHillard, Google, the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco Giants. All participating companies contributed to four crosscompany service days, 30 projects and more than 700 volunteers in the downtown area.

Painting the City With ‘These City Walls’

To mark the 25th anniversary of Community Day — and to add beauty, culture and color across our neighborhoods — we collaborated with 1AM Projects and local partners to commission 25 new murals citywide, including “Beneath the Bay,” completed down the street from our San Francisco headquarters in November. From Potrero Hill to Union Square, these murals are showing up across the city to bring energy to the neighborhoods that make our city thrive.

25 Years of Community Day

We marked LS&Co.’s 25th Community Day with nearly 600 San Francisco-based employees volunteering with 20 nonprofits in one day, alongside more than $150,000 in local grants. This annual day of service was a powerful snapshot of our commitment to our values, with employees working with long-time nonprofit partners across the city like AIDS Memorial Grove and the Homeless Prenatal Program, as well as new nonprofits like Booker T. Washington and San Francisco’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Showing Up for Pride in Our Hometown

Our employees showed up in a big way for San Francisco Pridesupporting programming and volunteer activations that celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and the culture that makes the city thrive. We were proud to once again sponsor the San Francisco Pride parade and show up for the community through city-wide pop-ups and events.

St. Anthony’s Partnership

To meet immediate clothing needs in the Tenderloin neighborhood and beyond, we formalized an ongoing donation cadence with St. Anthony’s Free Clothing Program to match supply with demand. St. Anthony’s Foundation provides essential services like meals, medical care, free clothing and pathways to stability for individuals and families in need. Programs such as the Free Clothing Program support thousands of people each year, helping to meet immediate needs and foster long-term well-being.

The donations have been warmly received, and we’ve continued to collaborate on volunteer opportunities for our employees.

Deepening Ties With Longstanding Partners

Throughout the year, we continued to support cultural institutions like the SF MOMA, Academy of Sciences, Fine Arts Museums and the Exploratorium, as well as became a proud sponsor of the annual Stern Grove festival. After the successful inaugural year of Downtown First Thursdays (DFT) in 2024 — of which LS&Co. was a key funder — we continued our support of DFT’s expansion to Front Street as well as the Downtown Development Corporation’s launch. We also kept up our engagement with organizations that are vital to San Francisco families and youth, including Larkin Street Youth Services and the Homeless Prenatal Program, helping their missions through grants and employee volunteering on Community Day and throughout the year.

Just the Beginning

As we look ahead, our commitment to San Francisco remains unwavering. Every mural, every volunteer hour, every partnership reflects our belief that thriving communities start with showing up — again and again. We’ve believed in this city for more than 170 years, and we look forward to continuing to show up.
