There’s no doubt the last year and a half have been challenging for all, but throughout the pandemic women have undeniably become the social safety net of the country – taking on primary caregiving duties all while balancing work and family obligations. Here at Levi Strauss & Co., we have made some significant changes to better support them and prioritize all our employees’ mental health and well-being. We never want our people to have to choose between work and caring for their families.
“By taking care of our employees, we’re doing what’s good for business, what’s good for our society and what’s just the right thing to do,” Tracy said.
In recent years, we have implemented a stronger paid family leave policy, and extended paid sick leave to part-time retail employees. In addition to taking a stronger stance in supporting national paid leave legislation, we have also updated our bereavement policy from three days to two weeks which now covers pregnancy loss.
We also lean on partners, like experts from Thrive Global to help our people manage their well-being. Our employees can further utilize employee resource groups (ERGs) for additional support and community. In addition to our ERG for women and families with disabilities, we have an ERG focused on mental health – working to fight the stigma from within and provide a place to discuss benefits and resources.
