Standing Up for Voting Rights

Democracy only works when everyone can vote.

Today, we are calling on lawmakers across the country to set aside partisan politics and work together to pass laws that make voting safe and accessible to everyone. By signing this statement, coordinated by the Civic Alliance for Democracy, we are joining 170 businesses and myriad other companies and business leaders who have raised their voices against new voting restrictions.

Right now, there are more than 350 bills under consideration in 47 states that would make it harder to register, vote by mail or cast a ballot in person. These bills aren’t only racist; they represent a significant step backward for us here in the US, where we saw record turnout in the 2020 presidential election after many states worked to make voting safe and more accessible in the face of the global pandemic.

As the Civic Alliance statement says, we stand wholeheartedly “in solidarity with voters 一 and with the Black executives and leaders at the helm of this movement 一 in our nonpartisan commitment to equality and democracy.”

At Levi Strauss & Co., we’re committed to expanding voting rights to all Americans until everyone has an equal say in our collective destiny. We’ll continue to advocate to improve access to the polls and dismantle voting barriers designed to disenfranchise communities of color.

Because democracy can only thrive if every voter has an equal chance to participate.
