New York Fashion Week: Men’s, Dockers Style

Earlier this month, New York Fashion Week: Men’s kicked off. Launched by The Council of Fashion Designers of America, the event marked the first-ever standalone fashion week dedicated to menswear. Buyers and designers have longed for the event, because it conveniently syncs the menswear shows with market week – the time when buyers for department stores and boutiques revisit each collection to select the looks they will sell in their stores.

“It’s an opportunity to put a spotlight on American menswear,” said Steven Kolb, CEO of The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), about the event. “That’s something that has been overshadowed with the men’s shows just being tagged on to women’s shows. It’s about really celebrating them and showing the talent and creativity that define American men’s designers.”

The event’s ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by New York City’s Deputy Mayor, Alicia Glen, Diane Von Furstenberg and others. There, Kolb expressed his gratitude to all the partners, specifically the Dockers® brand. The brand was one of the founding partners and the official sponsor of the Emerging Designers category, which included showings from Lucio Castro, Timo Weiland, Ricardo Seco, Engineered For Motion, Anzevino Getty, deTROIT, Gypsy Sport, and THORSUN.

The category is crucial to new and upcoming talent that otherwise may not have the opportunity, and means, to show. “The response I’ve received from showing my collection, deTROIT on Platform 3 has been amazing,” said Robert Molnar from deTROIT. “I was honored to be part of it. It was a wonderful experience. The crew and teams provided made it such a pleasure to show. I can’t thank [Dockers] enough. Without your support it never would have happened.”

Dockers® got in on the fashion week fun and with some help from Brothers & Craft and street style photographer George Elder. The brand also dressed the CFDA volunteers in Dockers® (see them in WWD).

Here are a few highlights from the week:

New York Fashion Week: Men’s kicks off. Here’s a look inside:

Brothers & Craft take over @dockerskhakis on Instagram: The Chamber brothers – Kirk, Zac, and Clay, are a styling trio who originally hail from Tennessee. The boys have lived in numerous states across the U.S., but still manage to tie in their Southern roots and charm and make it modern and stylish. Zac and Clay took over Docker’s Instagram for the day and documented their fashion week adventures.

Fashion photographer George Elder hit the streets to capture some of the best takes on khaki fashion. From refined slim tapered chinos to linen, rolled up khakis – George captured how men were finding their khaki inspiration.

WWD went off the runways and onto the streets and sidewalks for some of the best looks of Men’s New York Fashion Week street style. Amongst them are NYFW volunteers who are decked out in Dockers® pants and chambray.

As seen in @wwd — #NYFWM volunteers decked out head-to-toe in Dockers.
