Levi Strauss & Co. Employees Pull Off Another Hackathon


Sometimes the best way to achieve innovative greatness is to put the pressure on – a lesson Levi Strauss & Co. has taken from the tech world.

Our ecommerce teams came together to host another hackathon, a day-long coding session designed to spark creative concepts that have the potential to become real-life solutions. Teams were tasked with developing projects that would benefit the overall consumer experience.

In all, there were 24 projects from teams around the world ranging in concepts, from ways to speed up changes to brand websites to the creation of tools that would allow consumers to more easily apply promotion codes.

“In just two years of this event, we are already seeing truly innovative approaches toward our direct-to-consumer business,” said Marc Rosen, executive vice president and president of global ecommerce. “The really exciting thing about this year’s hackathon is that some of the ideas can be implemented immediately.”

Last year’s winning projects served as an inspiration for new technologies and services such as the chatbot currently featured on www.levi.com, which can answer questions and direct site visitors to products from jeans to tops and even belts and shoes to create their perfect outfit.

“Our hackathon is one of the most engaging events of the year for our teams,” said event organizer Mansi Fadnavis, senior global product manager at LS&Co. “It’s a great way for us to lead innovation-driven projects and to showcase ideas and solutions from employees from across the company.”
