If the new Levi’s® store in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district looks different from nearby stores, there’s a reason. The simple, refined aesthetic sets the store apart. Natural and materials, including wood, leather and metal, are matched with vintage furniture and lamps. Those aspects, along with the resulting industrial look and feel, reinforces the Levi’s® brand’s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.

As a Dockers® menswear designer, it makes sense to me to see how our clothes respond to the real world – even if that world includes a skateboard and some tricks. So I convinced a few friends to join me in putting the Dockers® Alpha Khaki to the test on the streets of San Francisco. The Alpha is a hybrid-sort of design, coupling the best elements of jeans with the more refined characteristics of khaki. What you end up with is a jean’s durability, rugged construction and slim fit – with the slightly more polished effect of a khaki.

It’s always interesting to me to see what inspires fashion designers. Is it a trip to the desert, a mountain trek, or maybe a walk through a forest? For the Fall 2012 collection, the Levi’s® brand took to the coast. The collection, they say, was built on – and inspired by – the ocean, coastal communities and their associated handcrafted traditions. The collection is available now, online and in stores. For a taste of its inspiration, check out this beautiful video.

Here’s one thing you may not have thought about while watching the 2012 London Olympics: The range of participants’ clothing sizes.I speak from experience when I tell you that it runs from XXXS to XXXXL.Levi Strauss & Co. was the official outfitter of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. And I was lucky enough to get to work there. That’s right – I was paid to work the Olympics! It was an amazing privilege.

This is a pair of Levi's®, buttons and rivets and pockets and cuffs, and the thread that holds it together. When the road gets rough and the sky gets jumpy and the stars start falling on top of your head and the waves start breaking against your legs; It's the thread in your seams that's tied to your dreams. It's the sole in your feet that keep the beat; You're gonna be great, you're gonna be great, you're gonna be great; You're gonna find the cure, you're gonna be famous, you're gonna be shameless.

If you’re a cyclist in Japan, odds are you know Cherubim, one of the most respected handmade bicycle brands in that country. It makes sense that when the Levi’s® brand brought its Commuter Series performance wear to Japan, it would turn to Cherubim – and its chief builder, Shin-Ichi Konno, whose father started the company in 1965.Shin-Ichi’s charge? Design the Levi’s® Commuter Concept Bike that embodies the essence of the Levi’s® Commuter Series, namely form, function and cycling. This video captures his approach.

A farm may not seem the most likely place to schmooze fashion editors. Unless, of course, it’s located in a fashion mecca like New York City. But where? On a high-rise roof, of course. That’s where you’ll find the Brooklyn Grange, a commercial organic farm that’s actually on the top of a Big Apple building.

It takes one motorboat ride and a half-hour walk through the Guatemala highlands to get to my job every morning, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. My name is Delia Mendoza. I work for Mercado Global, a cutting-edge nonprofit, Fair Trade organization that connects indigenous Guatemalan women like me to sales opportunities in the United States.

Given its San Francisco roots, it’s no surprise that the Dockers® brand should harken back to its West Coast origins for inspiration. That’s certainly the case with the brand’s new Art of Khaki collection. If the mod check shirting looks familiar, it’s likely because you’ve seen an image of Jack Kerouac or Lawrence Ferlinghetti or one of their Beat Generation contemporaries wearing one. (We own no rights, so you’ll have to Google it yourself.)
