Bicycles Built for 50

I cried at work last week, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.A bit of background. One of my responsibilities here at Levi’s® is to help put together the annual sales conference for our retail managers from across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The conference is a big deal, and it requires months of planning. The ultimate goal is to send our managers off feeling energized, so they can then motivate their teams and better connect with our consumers.

What's Your Favorite Trucker?

If you’re looking for an excuse to make this a Southern California summer, here’s one: Levi’s® partnership with the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art to create and sell denim trucker jackets. The jackets, selling at MOCA, feature the work of ten artists from the museum's “Art in the Streets” exhibition.Whether you’re a fan of Keith Haring or Revok, you’re bound to find one you like. Levi's® Takes the LEED

Step into the Levi’s® brand store in Passage du Havre in Paris, and you’ll notice it’s different. How so?The lighting uses less electricity, for starters. That electricity comes from a green power provider and is obtained from 100% renewable sources. The store’s high efficiency plumbing fixtures result in 30% less water use. Even the flooring is made of 100% Forest Stewardship Council certified wood.

The Birth of Blue Jeans

138 years ago today, our company founder, Levi Strauss, and Reno tailor Jacob Davis received U.S. patent number 139,121 for the process of strengthening men’s work pants with copper rivets. What does this mean?Nothing less than the invention of blue jeans. Poetic Levi

Levi Brenden is a lot of things – 15-year-old boy, high school senior, excellent student, fluent in English and Japanese, and judging from the picture, a soccer enthusiast. And – get this – he was named after Levi’s® jeans. That's our kind of kid!Levi is also a poet. And his dad, Daniel Brenden, was kind enough to share a poem Levi wrote, recently published in the Aloha (Oregon) High School publication, “The Voice, New Beginnings 2011.”

Levi and Levi's -- Joined in Harmony

My Levi’s® story is personal and accidental. When my wife went into labor on April 30, 2008, we expected it to be quick and that our son would be born that same day.As it turned out, her labor lasted nearly 18 hours, and our son didn't make his arrival until shortly after midnight on May 1. Get it? 501!We were elated and exhausted.Shortly after our son’s birth, a nurse asked us for his name. And while we were fairly certain what we wanted to name him, we hadn’t yet made a final decision. It was time.

Here’s a look at what the other insiders saw.The event was made up of a series of vignettes, each a backdrop for the lifestyle of the Levi’s® guy and girl. What’s your scene – a house party? The drive-in? A park? Or all of the above? Live models brought the settings to life.

Since Before I Was Born

Anyone in the neighborhood of Levi’s Plaza yesterday might have sensed a certain buzz in the air.It could’ve been the beautiful spring-like weather after so much winter rain. Or it could’ve been the fact that it was the opening day of baseball season.More likely, though, folks at Levi Strauss & Co. headquarters were buzzing as a result of a special visitor: The San Francisco Giants’ World Series Trophy.
