As a cyclist and a Levi’s® guy, I’m pretty excited about our new Commuter line – clothing designed for the needs of the urban commuter cyclist. We’re launching it this week with the 511™ Commuter Skinny Jean and the Commuter Trucker Jacket. And trust me, this is great stuff. The jeans and jacket were born from innovation and classic American style, just what you’d expect from the Levi’s® brand. And they were designed for people who ride bikes by people who ride bikes. In fact, it was a natural for us.

If you’re looking for an excuse to make this a Southern California summer, here’s one: Levi’s® partnership with the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art to create and sell denim trucker jackets. The jackets, selling at MOCA, feature the work of ten artists from the museum's “Art in the Streets” exhibition.Whether you’re a fan of Keith Haring or Revok, you’re bound to find one you like. There are only 50 of each design, and each jacket costs $250, with all of the proceeds going to MOCA.

138 years ago today, our company founder, Levi Strauss, and Reno tailor Jacob Davis received U.S. patent number 139,121 for the process of strengthening men’s work pants with copper rivets. What does this mean?Nothing less than the invention of blue jeans. In fact, we call it the “birthday” of blue jeans. We couldn’t find a cake big enough for everyone, but we did put together our top ten list of fun tidbits for you to nibble on. Enjoy!

It was an invite-only preview last week in New York. Fashion insiders gathered to see what Levi’s® has planned for its Fall 2011 Collection. If your invite – like mine – never arrived, fear not! Here’s a look at what the other insiders saw.The event was made up of a series of vignettes, each a backdrop for the lifestyle of the Levi’s® guy and girl. What’s your scene – a house party? The drive-in? A park? Or all of the above? Live models brought the settings to life.

The Ex-Girlfriend jeans have caught plenty of attention since Levi’s® launched them a few weeks back. Ellen, Stephen Colbert and plenty of bloggers have had their say.
The latest review comes from the folks at ABC’s Good Morning America. The, ahem, bottom line? You gotta be confident to wear ‘em — and they’re not for everyone.
See for yourself...

So, just how much do you know about those jeans you’re wearing? Or that t-shirt? Where were they made? And how?More and more consumers want answers to these questions. They want to know how a manufacturer’s practices affect the environment, workers and communities.Leading apparel companies have developed initiatives to monitor factory conditions, measure energy and water use, and even trace cotton to its source. But this information has primarily been used internally.Until now.

Although it was a short visit, last Thursday was a momentous occasion for the Dockers® brand in New York City. I’m talking about, of course, the GQ Best New Menswear Designer in America party held at the ultra-hip Ace Hotel.I was in and out of NYC in 12 hours, but what a great 12 hours it was.
