Good Things Take Time

This Regular Tee Shirt is anything but regular. But that's what you should expect from Levi's® Made & Crafted. Most tee shirt graphics are printed. This one is knitted. The zigzag pattern is actually a jacquard -- a time-intensive technique that allows for wild but precise patterns, rich colors and a soft but rugged feel. The pattern is actually knitted into the fabrics so that it ages like your favorite pair of jeans. It takes eight times longer to make this "regular" tee, but it's worth it.

A Love That Never Fades

As the company historian I sometimes feel as though I inhabit an alternate universe. This is never more true than when I am in the midst of denim enthusiasts.Actually, “enthusiasts” is too mild a word for a group of guys and gals who love jeans and denim and indigo. I just had the opportunity to spend an evening with a bunch of these folks, and as usual, I had a great time.

Music to Your Ears

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to head to San Francisco, this may be music to your ears. The America’s Cup and the Dockers® brand are partnering to produce the Sounds of San Francisco – a series of free concerts at the America’s Cup Pavilion. We’re talking San Francisco emerging artists here. And given the Dockers® brand’s heritage as a San Francisco brand, it makes sense for the Dockers® team to support these bands and bring them to the pavilion stage for all to enjoy. And did I mention the concerts are free? These are the acts that have been booked:

Lynn in Berlin. And Moscow.

As Levi Strauss & Co.’s historian, going to Germany is like going home. In my 23 years with the company, I’ve been here more than any other country. And that’s appropriate, since this is where our founder, Levi Strauss, was born.In Berlin, my only German stop on the 501® Jean Roadshow, I had a full day of interviews and presentations at a lovely 1920s-era hotel. My audience was a collection of equally lovely journalists and bloggers, all of whom seemed to appreciate seeing the vintage jeans I brought with me.

Our Top 10 Photos from Community Day

Around the world, Levi Strauss & Co. employees gave back to their communities in May.It’s all part of Community Day, a highlight of the year at our company, where we step away from our desks and volunteer with non-profit organizations in the communities we live, work and play. This year we participated in nearly 170 projects in 46 countries around the world. In rolling up our sleeves, we are making strides in addressing sustainability, equality and the fight against HIV/AIDS. Build-a-Board

Just plain cool. That’s how I’d describe one of the recent Community Day projects involving Levi Strauss & Co. employees. The volunteers joined with Board Rescue to build 300 skateboards in under four hours. The boards – along with helmets, backpacks and other items – were then donated to underserved youth in San Francisco.

American Cool

In my book, few things are as cool as an Airstream travel trailer. The smooth, curving sheets of aluminum, riveted together and gliding down the open road to the next big adventure. Maybe at the Grand Canyon. Or a deserted Gulf Coast beach. Or Philadelphia.Philly?Yes, Philadelphia – the City of Brotherly Love. Home of the Liberty Bell. And this weekend, the place where a specially outfitted Airstream will house even more American cool…in the form of Dockers® khakis.

Give Me Liberty!

Liberty of London is known for, among other things, its floral prints. Levi’s® is known for inventing -- and, then, innovating -- the blue jean. Put the two together and you have a collection that Glamour says could "rock your world."Not bad, eh?

Looking Back, Pt. 1

Since we survived the much-talked-about “end of the world” on December 21, it seems only right to look back at the year that was. After all, it could’ve been our final one, right? Today, some highlights from LS&Co. Unzipped during the first half of 2012.In January, we called attention to new Dockers® front man Bear Grylls. His personal story of tragedy and triumph is inspiring, to say the least.
