Most Importantly: Something Blue

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue; for Francois Malan of South Africa, only Levi’s® blues would do.

Bloggers: Levi's® Curve ID Fits!

“All asses were not created equal.”

That’s the memorable marketing phrase from the folks behind – ahem! – Levi’s® Curve ID, a new fit system for women’s denim. The words certainly resonated with New York-based fashion bloggers who recently attended an invitation-only event at the brand’s Soho store.

Asia Rising

Imagine yourself being there almost 140 years ago when Levi Strauss invented the world’s first blue jeans. That’s a little how I feel today – excited about being present at the start of something amazing.

We’ve just launched a new brand here at Levi Strauss & Co. It’s called dENiZEN™. And I have the pleasure of helping lead it.

Chilly in London

Sometimes you can submerge yourself in London culture. Sometimes you need an escape. Tucked away, last night, inside the bare-bricked surroundings of Levi’s flagship store, pianist, singer and entertainer, Chilly Gonzalez provided just that– a place to get away.

Well Hung

One of the coolest things about art, is that different people see different things in the same piece. In “Nothing is What it Seems,” Canadian Caleb Hill saw…a way to air dry his clothes.

What judges saw in the Levi Strauss & Co. Care to Air Design Challenge was a winner.

Fetterman v. Colbert

Few people can comfortably take on comedian-turned-faux-conservative-personality Stephen Colbert under the bright lights of his Comedy Central TV set. But one person who can is Braddock, Penn. Mayor John Fetterman. And he has proved it again.

What Took So Long?

If you tuned in to NPR’s All Things Considered on Thursday, you might’ve thought you were eavesdropping on a sidewalk conversation between two women – about blue jeans.

In this case, the two women happened to be NPR Anchor Michelle Norris and Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post fashion writer Robin Ghivan.

“Most women would rather eat their toenails than go shopping for jeans” is how Norris introduced the conversation.

Marketing vs. Sincerity

A few weeks back, the first of the Levi’s® Workshops opened its doors for a two-month run. Focused on the craft of print, it’s located in San Francisco’s Mission District.

The workshop has played host to thousands of visitors interested in printmaking. Some come for classes and others wander in and start playing around on classic letterpress machinery. And learning.
