Lights, Camera, Levi's®

If you’re in to movies – making them, not just watching them – make your way to the latest Levi’s® Workshop.

On the heels of the Print Workshop in San Francisco and the Photo Workshop in New York, the brand has opened its Film Workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. It’s part of MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibit.

What’ll you find there?

How about workshops on everything from found footage films and direct animation to stunts and 3D.

Stop the Presses!

If you printed our just-released 2010 annual report … and placed the pages end-to-end …they would stretch more than half the length of a football field.

That’s a lot of paper. It’s also one reason why we’re not printing it.

This year, for the first time, the Levi Strauss & Co. annual report is strictly electronic. You may download it here. Or view the interactive version here.

Here Comes...

I’m excited to share that the dENiZEN™ brand is leaping across the Pacific Ocean to expand its reach to two new markets – the United States and Mexico.

We launched just last year in Asia, and consumer reaction here has paved the way for this critical expansion of Levi Strauss & Co.’s newest brand.

dENiZEN™ started with a strong vision – a global jeans brand for a new generation. We’re thrilled that consumers in even more markets will have a chance to experience the brand’s modern, stylish products.

In It for the Long Haul

I must admit, there were times when coming to work was tough.

When my organization -- ACHIEVE, or Action for Health Initiatives, Inc. -- was in its infancy, we lost our first group of advocates to AIDS. This was a decade ago, when affordable, life-saving medicines to treat HIV and AIDS weren’t readily available in the Philippines.

What Are You Wearing (This Fall)?

It was an invite-only preview last week in New York. Fashion insiders gathered to see what Levi’s® has planned for its Fall 2011 Collection. If your invite – like mine – never arrived, fear not! Here’s a look at what the other insiders saw.

The event was made up of a series of vignettes, each a backdrop for the lifestyle of the Levi’s® guy and girl. What’s your scene – a house party? The drive-in? A park? Or all of the above? Live models brought the settings to life.

Since Before I Was Born

Anyone in the neighborhood of Levi’s Plaza yesterday might have sensed a certain buzz in the air.

It could’ve been the beautiful spring-like weather after so much winter rain. Or it could’ve been the fact that it was the opening day of baseball season.

More likely, though, folks at Levi Strauss & Co. headquarters were buzzing as a result of a special visitor: The San Francisco Giants’ World Series Trophy.

Andy Warhol, Statuesque in Levi's®

Gothamist.com summed it up well: Andy Warhol is getting an extension on his 15 minutes of fame.

Yesterday evening, “The Andy Monument” was unveiled in New York’s Union Square, in front of Warhol’s Factory Studio of the 1970s and ‘80s.

Why We Remember the Triangle Factory Fire

If you have a good job – decent hours, safe working conditions, health benefits – it’s easy to take it for granted. But today might be a good day to give it some thought and recall when worker rights weren’t as common as they are today.

Why today?
