Levi Strauss & Co. is constantly looking for ways to reduce our water footprint. You may have heard of our Water<Less™ collection and our involvement with the Better Cotton Initiative. We’re also working to spread the word on why it’s important to conserve water.

Around the world, Levi Strauss & Co. employees gave back to their communities in May.
It’s all part of Community Day, a highlight of the year at our company, where we step away from our desks and volunteer with non-profit organizations in the communities we live, work and play. This year we participated in nearly 170 projects in 46 countries around the world.
In rolling up our sleeves, we are making strides in addressing sustainability, equality and the fight against HIV/AIDS. We also granted a total of $300,000 to non-profit partners through the Levi Strauss Foundation.

Just plain cool.
That’s how I’d describe one of the recent Community Day projects involving Levi Strauss & Co. employees.
The volunteers joined with Board Rescue to build 300 skateboards in under four hours. The boards – along with helmets, backpacks and other items – were then donated to underserved youth in San Francisco.

We were all wet, but undeterred. Enthusiastic, in fact.
That describes our more-than-50 Levi Strauss & Co. participants in a very rainy AIDS Walk New York earlier this month.
It was 8 a.m. when my colleagues arrived at our Lexington Ave. Levi’s® store meeting point. They came from throughout the city – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem and the Bronx. Most were my fellow Levi’s® stores employees, but we were also joined by folks from our New York sales offices.

My current favorite jeans are a pair of Levi’s® Made & Crafted™ that I’ve had only a few months. They fit perfectly. And as long as I can refrain from the Halloween candy that has somehow shown up in the office in the month of May, I hope to wear them for a long, long time.

As we wrap up our week marking the 140th birthday of the blue jean – our Levi’s® 501® jean, by the way – we thought we’d call your attention to a post by the Canadian site, The Loop.
The folks there decided to celebrate by putting together what they think are the most iconic Levi’s® ads of all time.
Check ‘em out here.

Everywhere I've gone on this 501® jeans anniversary road show, I’ve worked with wonderful Levi Strauss & Co. colleagues. Amsterdam was no exception. Since this was my first visit there, being able to see it through the eyes of our team members made it doubly rewarding.

Your blue jeans were born on Monday.
By that I mean the patent for the original blue jean was issued May 20 – back in 1873.
Levi Strauss partnered with tailor Jacob Davis on the patent, which was for riveted pockets on work pants. The rivets made the pants stronger, ready for the hard work of building the American West.
The Levi’s® 501® jean was the original and first-ever blue jean. Born 140 years ago.

This’ll be quick. Just couldn’t help but notice -- and share -- that Prince Harry was wearing Dockers® Alpha Khakis while visiting New Jersey this week. In the picture above, he's seen with the state's governor, Chris Christie.
Not to call too much attention to the Prince's bum, but that’s where you’ll find the brand’s orange wing-and-anchor logo.

I’ve wanted to see India at least since I was a yoga-obsessed college student. And I finally made it.
While my visit was brief, being in this colorful country met all of my expectations, starting with where I stayed.
