A Blank, Black Canvas

If you use clothing to display your personal attitude and individuality, Levi’s® has just provided a blank, black canvas.

That’s the idea behind Levi’s® Monochrome Capsule collection, which focuses on clean simple styles and a dark color palette that includes Black Point, Slam Grey and Petrol Blue. The monochromatic theme is carried out with tone-on-tone stitching, and the zipper, leather patch and metal buttons are all black.

Go Team! Go Levi's® Curve ID!

Levi’s® jeans have long been part of the standard uniform at college campuses around the world. Now, there’s even more of a reason for college women to pull on a pair of Levi’s jeans – Levi’s® Curve ID, with a fit based on shape, not size.

And the Levi’s® team is currently taking that message to college campuses across the United States – bringing with them the “Mirror, Mirror … What’s My Curve ID?” studio.

Sharing Lessons to Improve Workers' Lives

Although Vietnam has a different set of labor standards than Egypt, the vast majority of people who work in factories around the world are young women who migrate from rural communities to the city, in search of a better life.

This means that while they may all benefit from knowing how to protect themselves from harassment or learn how to calculate their paycheck, training programs have to be tailored to fit social, cultural and legal nuances.

Plays Well With Others

In case there was any doubt, it’s clear that Dockers® clearly plays well with others, particularly renowned designers.

Check out the collection from the finalists in this year’s Best New Menswear Designers in America competition … and you’ll see.

The competition was in partnership with GQ and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). And the collection is now on sale.

A Signal To Women Everywhere

As a woman, I have to admit I was more than a little inspired by Friday's news that the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to three … women.

They are Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, peace activist Leymah Gbowee, also of Liberia, and Tawakkol Karman, a pro-democracy campaigner in Yemen.

All three are seen as fearless pioneers for their work as nonviolent activists – promoting peace, democracy and gender equality. At Levi Strauss & Co., we have a respect for pioneers and the roles they play in making history.

A More Sustainable Future...By Design

When Rob Forbes sees parking spaces in San Francisco, he doesn’t always see asphalt and cars. He often sees a blank canvas waiting to become a lush green community gathering space.

“Cities are the bedrock of our culture,” the founder of Design Within Reach explains as a photo of a mini-park, occupying former parking spaces, appears on the LCD screen behind him.

More Jeans. Less Water.

I've always believed that businesses not only have the ability to change the world -- they have a duty to do so.

It's this belief that has led me through my career. And to Levi's. To change things.

Let me give you an example.

Last year, we announced the Levi’s® Water<Less™ collection – denim finished in a way that uses significantly less water. Up to 96 percent less for some products.

Steve Jobs: In Memoriam

Steve Jobs stood on the frontier for 56 years. He was a master innovator who changed computing, music and telecommunications.

He showed us that anything is possible and, in doing so, made the world a better place.

Many words will be written in the hours and days ahead about Steve Jobs. And with good reason. He inspired so many people in so many ways that we can only marvel at his artistry and intuition.

We thank him for showing us the way and for challenging the world to stay hungry and stay foolish.

That Tab on Your, Um, Pocket? It's 75!

One of the most recognizable trademarks in the world has just turned 75. And we’re proud to say, it’s ours.

That trademark is officially known as the “Tab Device.” You might just call it “the red Tab” when you see it on someone’s, um, back pocket.

To vintage clothing collectors, graphic artists, designers and advertising executives, the Tab Device is an icon, and it’s sometimes hard to believe it hasn’t been a part of Levi’s® jeans since the beginning.
