Hurricane Relief

Like you, our hearts and thoughts are with the millions of people across the Carribean, United States and Canada whose lives have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

To assist with the disaster relief efforts, the Levi Strauss Foundation has committed a total of $100,000 to the American Red Cross and grassroots organizations in affected areas. In addition, the foundation is double-matching our employees donations to disaster relief.

Election Day

“In the voting booth, everyone is equal.”

- Barbara Boxer

That quote says it all. Once all the money has been spent and all the words have been spoken – trying to sway your vote – the final decision is yours.

Rich or poor, brown, black or white, gay or straight – in the voting booth, each of us is equal. That means an impoverished, 18-year-old student wields as much power as a person of privilege.

Message in a Bottle

“Waste is only waste if we waste it.” – will.i.am

That quote from music artist and producer will.i.am says it quite well.

Best known for his work with The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am has joined with The Coca-Cola Company on an initiative to educate consumers about everyday recycling choices. It’s called EKOCYCLE™.

One Link in Our Supply Chain: Cambodia

As the head of the Levi Strauss & Co. global supply chain, one of my responsibilities is to visit vendor factories – where our products are made – all around the globe. This means I come face-to-face with the people who cut, sew and do everything else required to make our jeans, khakis and other clothes.

This is a part of my job that I truly enjoy, in large part because I work for a company that is committed to workers’ needs. By walking into apparel factories I see first-hand where we’re making progress – and where we need to do more.

Case in point: Cambodia.

What's the Difference?

If the new Levi’s® store in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district looks different from nearby stores, there’s a reason.

The simple, refined aesthetic sets the store apart. Natural and materials, including wood, leather and metal, are matched with vintage furniture and lamps. Those aspects, along with the resulting industrial look and feel, reinforces the Levi’s® brand’s commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.

Big Company. Smaller Footprint

Levi Strauss & Co. is not an energy company.

But when we add up all the small ways we’re changing our relationship to the energy we consume, it can make a big difference.

That’s why we’re pleased to share our 2012 Climate Change Report, which captures progress toward our goal of reducing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases through maximizing energy efficiency and one day using 100% renewable energy.
