Your Two-Wheeled, Urban Commute
Just Got Better

As a cyclist and a Levi’s® guy, I’m pretty excited about our new Commuter line – clothing designed for the needs of the urban commuter cyclist.

We’re launching it this week with the 511™ Commuter Skinny Jean and the Commuter Trucker Jacket. And trust me, this is great stuff.

The jeans and jacket were born from innovation and classic American style, just what you’d expect from the Levi’s® brand. And they were designed for people who ride bikes by people who ride bikes.

In fact, it was a natural for us.

We knew that urban cyclists across the country were already wearing our jeans. We see it every day on our own bike rides. So we talked to those cyclists to find out what would make our jeans even more suitable for the two-wheeled, human-powered commute.

The result? Product with performance traits for cycling that also functions as daily street wear. The Commuter line is water resistant, dirt repellant, antimicrobial, and reflective. It’s reinforced in high-stress areas, like the crotch, and  also has just the perfect amount of stretch to increase ease of movement.

Among the features of the 511™ Commuter Skinny is a waistband that’ll hold your U-lock. Click here to learn more about the jeans. And click here to see additional specs about the Trucker.

I’ve been lucky enough to try some of the initial prototypes. They’re impressive – tough, yet breathable. With the originality, signature fit and durability you’ve come to expect from Levi’s® brand.

Starting this week, you'll find Commuter by Levi's® clothing at independent bike shops in major cities, as well as at select Levi's® stores and at Levi.com. In August, you can find it in select Urban Outfitter stores.

I hope you'll check it out. Seriously, your commute just got better.

girls also bike! nothing for us?

Editor's note: Hi Tukson. Yes, girls DO bike! And I'm told the brand is looking in to adding Women's product -- no doubt based, in part, on reaction to the Men's Commuter product. Stay tuned! And thanks for your comment.

It's interesting and will be lanched in Asia market?

Editor's note: Hello Nikkert, and thanks for asking. The current plan is to expand to Asia and Europe next year.

OK, great, but a skinny jean for cyclists? That's fine if you have Andy Schleck legs, but what if you're built more like Tyler Farrar? I can't even get my legs into regular 501s, much less anything labeled "skinny."

Editor's note: Hi Will, and thanks for your comment. The Levi's® design team worked with cyclists in cities all over the U.S. to shape the Commuter product. The consensus from these riders was that the 511™ was their fit of choice, based on its more form-fitting profile. Given this, it was the natural fit to launch our Commuter product. As the Commuter continues to evolve, we will continue the dialogue with dedicated cyclists to make it better. And I have passed along your input to the Levi's® team. Thanks again.
