"Woohoo" for Wasabi...and Facebook!

Let’s say you’re a mom, desperately trying to locate a hard-to-find pair of Levi’s® jeans. Where do you turn?

How about Facebook?

Turns out it’s more than just a place where you can find out who won “The Bachelorette” three hours before it airs in your time zone. (What can you do?)

For New Jersey mom Susan Zitofsky, it’s also a place to find her son’s prized pants: wasabi-colored 510™ Super Skinny Jeans.

“I reached out to several retailers’ Facebook pages to try to find them in this color,” Susan said. “I also researched and used Google with no success.”

SashaOf course, she couldn’t give up. Her son Sasha is a big fan of this particular jean and color.

“These jeans look cool on me, and now a lot of the kids in my class want them, too!” said the 11-year-old student, who also dances, acts and models in New York City.

So being a good mother, Susan continued her search for the wasabi-colored jeans.

“My son had just performed in the city, and I wanted to surprise him with a new pair of his favorite Levi’s®.”

Having had no luck on the retailers’ Facebook pages, Susan decided to turn to the source. In early June, on the Levi’s® Facebook page, she asked where she could by them.

As part of a Consumer Relations pilot program to monitor Facebook inquiries, I spotted her post and provided a link to where she could purchase the jeans.

Her response was simple: “Wow!”

And when she told her son that she had ordered them, his response was equally brief: “Woohoo!”

Susan is an avid Facebook user, often turning to the site for help when she needs it.

“I thought that if I posted a message on the company’s Facebook page, maybe someone would take notice and post a note back on where I could find them.  I was so happy that they did!”

I recently spotted another pair of the jeans – right size and, of course, wasabi-colored – at a company sample sale. That color is hard to miss! I made sure the pair was shipped to Susan and Sasha. How lucky am I to be able to make a kind gesture to someone as part of my job?

Now, if only Facebook would automatically hide all spoilers for those of us on the West Coast.

I'm desperately looking for the old colors that Levi's used to offer on their 510 jeans! I am also a mom whose son loves the super skinny look, but more importantly the great colors these pants used to come in! What happened Levi's?! Where are all the fun colors you used to offer in the 510's? I am also looking for Wasabi, plus Ketchup, Sauterne Sunsoaked, Turquoise & Dark Amber just to name a few. I used to buy 4 - 5 pairs for him every Christmas and this is the first year he isn't getting any! I even called Levi's Customer Relations number as instructed by the Levi's rep that i spoke to and they said they can only help locate current styles. You can buy the bland color skinny jeans everywhere but only Levi's offered the fun unusual colors that really stuck out...PLEASE BRING THEM BACK :0( Sign me a VERY disappointed mom and an even more disappointed son come Christmas morning!

Editor's note: Hi Diana. So sorry to hear about your situation. My son was also a big fan of those brightly colored jeans. At the moment, we don't have the "fun colors" your son loves. I'm told bright-colored denim will be back for Spring 2012, so you may want to check back on us.levi.com in late January to see if you can find an old favorite or two. Otherwise, you may want to do an online search. I just searched Levi's 510 on Google and found Zappos had the Tomato Puree color in sizes 8-20. You may have even more luck. Thank you for your comment.
