Time is running out.
If you have an ingenious idea for air-drying clothes, you have only until the end of the month to enter it in the Care to Air Design challenge.
The full rules are here. In a nutshell, Levi Strauss & Co. is looking for the most covetable, innovative and sustainable air-drying solution, which raises the question: Why?
It’s simple, really.
While examining the lifecycle impact of a pair of Levi’s® 501’s, we were surprised to find that almost 60% of the climate impact happens in the laundry phase – after a consumer takes them home – and nearly 80% of that impact is due to the energy intensive method chosen for drying. All that hot air in your dryer takes a toll on the environment.
Now, we’ve lined up some line-drying judges – the folks who’ll determine who’s creative air-drying idea could, conceivably, change the way millions of folks dry their clothes and, in doing so, help save the planet!
With such high stakes, we needed some top-notch judges. And we got ‘em! They are…drum roll, please…
That’s right. View and vote on the entries at Myoo.com. Regardless of whom the judges pick, the crowd favorite takes home $1,000. (And we’re betting they don’t spend the money on a new…clothes dryer.)
The official judges will pick their winners August 16 at the Levi’s® Workshops in San Francisco.
So…here’s your chance…to either invent something. Or vote for someone else’s invention.
Or invent something and vote for yourself. (We won’t tell.)
