Today is not a typical Wednesday here. Far from it.
Once a year, Levi Strauss & Co. encourages its employees to skip work … and volunteer in their communities. For employees in North America, today’s the day. And it is anything but “a day off.”
One area where Levi Strauss & Co. has long focused its efforts is HIV/AIDS. We’re working with partners around the world on prevention, education, treatment and care. And one of our partners is PAWS — Pets Are Wonderful Support.
PAWS is a volunteer organization that helps take care for the pets of people with HIV/AIDS and other disabling illnesses.
Today, a team of employees will use a fleet of industrial sewing machines to “close the denim loop, transforming denim scraps and other clothing remnants into — wait for it! — dog beds, which will be shared with PAWS patients.
Another team will be bathing and grooming PAWS dogs — because no one likes to climb into a clean, new bed without a bath.
Overall this month, LS&Co. employees in 44 countries around the globe will participate in more than 165 community projects. Our PAWS project, in San Francisco, is just one.
This tenth annual Community Day is a small way of giving back to the people and communities around the world who help make Levi’s® and Dockers® the iconic brands they are today.
Our community partners appreciate the assist. But our employees will tell you it’s just as rewarding to volunteer.
And after all the hard work, no doubt, the dogs won’t be the only ones who’ll need a bath before crawling into bed.

Aww! Cute pic (of a probably unhappy-at-the-moment doggie!). Keep up the good work!
