Odd jobs attract Morgan O’Kane. Before he performed at the Levi’s® show at New York Fashion Week on the banjo, O’Kane put his carpentry skills to work behind-the-scenes, building benches for similar runway events.
But it was his musical skill that caught the ear of the Wall Street Journal reporter Hilke Schellmann, who interviewed O’Kane for a video series featuring interesting odd jobs at Fashion Week.
If you watch his feet carefully in the video, you’ll see that O’Kane is not only playing the banjo, he’s also playing the suitcase he’s sitting on like a drum.
Len Peltier, vice president of global creative direction for the Levi’s® brand, fell in love with the music immediately and chose O’Kane as the live soundtrack for the show. The bluegrass sound evokes the chaos, excitement and fashion of the street – perfect for the runway, a 160-ft. concrete sidewalk.
