We don’t normally let others do our blogging for us, but we’ll make an exception this time.
The folks at the Levi’s® Photography Workshop this week held a private photo shoot for students at New York’s Hetrick-Martin Institute.
HMI provides a safe learning environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth from 12-21 years.
The photo shoot featured some special guests, and the Workshop did a blog post on their site. You’ll also see some nice pictures of the event. Check it out.
Speaking of the Workshop…
Michael Stipe – of R.E.M. fame – paid a recent visit to attempt a photo experiment. The end result was pretty impressive.
The singer, lyricist and photography enthusiast asked a string of folks to “daisy chain” as photographer and model. In other words, a photographer would shoot a human subject and, then, that subject would become the photographer for the next subject. And so on. And so on.
Stipe didn’t even have to touch a camera!
Ultimately, the images would be edited into a video that’s a re-examination of traditional busts. In the videos below, Stipe talks about the project, and you see the end result.
They’re doing some cool things at Levi’s® Photography Workshop. If you find yourself on New York’s Wooster Street before the Workshop closes next week, step inside and get creative!
