There’s enough to think about when you’re commuting by bicycle. The last thing you want to do is worry about your clothes.
I speak from experience.
The driver that didn’t see me and ran me off the road with his van is proof. At least he stopped to make sure I was okay.
And never mind the near misses that occur just about every day I hop on my bike. That’s why I wear a helmet. You should, too. Just sayin’.
Back to clothes. Working for Levi Strauss & Co., I have a bias toward the company’s brands and the brands’ products – including Levi’s® Commuter Series, now in its fifth season.
My Commuter favorites? The parka, because it rains here, and the raglan sleeve pocket tee, because it just looks cool.

What makes the Commuter Series work so well is that it’s designed for cyclists by cyclists – people who understand what works and what doesn’t. The idea sprang from Levi’s® folks who, on their daily commutes, saw cyclists wearing Levi’s® jeans.
"Why not make those jeans a little more bicycle friendly?" they thought. And not just the jeans.
The end result is a line that features water and stain repellency, sweat and moisture wicking – not that I sweat, mind you – and even odor protection for those of you whose clothes need such a thing. The stretch-woven fabrics and reflective tape are “no, duh” additions that just make sense.
The video below features Jordan Hufnagel and shows the line in action in the city where he builds bikes -- Portland, a perfect place for cycling. You’ll find the Commuter Series in select bike shops and, of course, on Levi.com.
If you’re a cyclist, I’ll see you on the streets. If you commute in other ways – keep an eye out for us. Share the road, as they say.

Paragraph four emphasizes helmet use, but the fotos are without.
