How’s that Father’s Day shopping coming along?
Did you know that you’ll spend about $95 on dear ol’ dad this time around? That’s the estimate from the National Retail Federation, which measures such stuff. By the way, you spent about $33 more on mom for Mother’s Day.
That discrepancy aside, my friends at Dockers® brand have a gift suggestion: a pair of Dockers® cargo pants. A quick check of www.dockers.com tells me those pants will cost you only $33. And they’ll even throw in a Man t-shirt for free. Check the site for details.
The Dockers® folks also reminded me that this is the 100th anniversary of Father’s Day, started in 1910 by a woman in Spokane, Washington. Sonora Smart Dodd wanted a celebration that honored fathers like her own, a Civil War veteran who raised his family alone after his wife died giving birth to their sixth child.
A single father of six kids? Give that man a pair of Dockers® cargo pants, a free Man t-shirt – and a day off!
No matter how much you spend on your dad this Father’s Day, here’s hoping it’s a happy one for him and for you.
Happy Father’s Day!
Editor's Update: After posting the above, I came across this photo essay on dads at one of my favorite photo sites, Pictory. Here you'll find some sweet images, emotional remembrances, and, perhaps, even a tear in your eye.
