Gone Fishing...on Dockers®

“Fishing’s a whole lot more fun when you catch fish.”

Truer words have never been spoken.

That quote comes from Robert Felle, pictured above, the first winner of a Dockers® Man Grant. Robert will use his $2,000 in prize money to take his father and his two sons on a summer fishing trip in Canada.

Why Canada?

First of all, he lives in Racine, Wisc., so it’s not that far away. And, as he told the Racine Journal Times, he remembers watching fishing shows as a kid, and it seemed all the biggest fish were caught farther north, where there's less boat traffic.

"I want to make sure when we go, my kids catch fish,"

Robert is one of four $2,000 Dockers® Man Grant winners so far. Others include:

• David Perea, who will use the money to surprise his girlfriend singer with some equipment to help her pursue her love of music.

• Alyssa Long, who’ll use the grant to go from dabbling in creating art to something more, starting with t-shirt designs. (Yes, women may enter and win!)

• Andre Delsol, a recent college graduate and longtime hockey fanatic who wants to fulfill his childhood dream of attending a game in all 30 National Hockey League arenas. He even has his own road-trip website!

Based on suggestions from folks on Dockers® Facebook page, the most recent Man Grant was given to the International Red Cross in support of its disaster relief efforts following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

If you’re interested in a Man Grant to help you pursue your dream, there’s still time. Dockers® will award one each week through November. More information is available on the Dockers® Facebook Man Grants page.

Robert, the fisherman, says he, his father and two sons will drive to Canada with Robert’s truck and boat. They’ll use the Man Grant money for lodging and to hire a guide.

And even if they don’t catch a single fish, I’m betting they'll reel in something each remembers for the rest of his life.
