We weren’t really sure what to expect when we made the gesture: Levi Strauss & Co. would donate $1,000 to the Junior Giants for every home run hit by the San Francisco Giants in their 2010 World Series match-up with the Texas Rangers.
Now we do. Seven home runs, including one by Edgar Renteria in last night’s fifth and final game of the series, makes the total $7,000.
Good sports that we try to be, we decided to include all the World Series homers, including the three by the Rangers, to come up with a $10,000 donation.
As the home team of our hometown, the San Francisco Giants captured quite a bit of attention over the past week. When they landed their spot in the 2010 World Series, folks throughout the city and around the office were pretty excited.
Now, to be sure, we have plenty of Texas Ranger fans among our employee base, given our IT center in Westlake, Texas, not to mention the stores we have in the Lone Star State. And while they would have wanted the series to continue beyond last night…and end differently…their team had an amazing season.
So, congratulations to the two teams for an exciting World Series. We’re thrilled to recognize both with this $10,000 donation to the Junior Giants – to help deliver baseball to at-risk kids in California, Arizona and Oregon.
Go Team!
