When I pulled on my Levi’s® jeans that morning late last month, little did I know that they’d save my rear end later that day.
I was on vacation from my job as a U.S. Post Office manager in Texas, driving through the mountains of Arkansas – seeing the sights from the seat of my 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
You can probably guess what happens next.
As I was riding up a curving mountain road, a car cut a corner and drove across the double-yellow lines – directly toward me. I hit the brakes, and my bike slipped out from under me.
I landed on my butt and boots, scooting some 30 feet across the asphalt. But I surprised myself at the end of the slide by standing up.
I was okay, but shaking like a leaf. And my Harley was a total loss.
But the only other damage was a ripped pocket on my 560™ jeans. That pocket is now both a souvenir of the experience – and a symbol of my good fortune. In fact, I credit my Levi’s® and a lot of luck for the fact I wasn’t hurt.
This was my first motorcycle accident. It’s commonly said among experienced riders that the question is not if you’ll have an accident, but when. If that was my accident, I’m so lucky.
As for Levi’s® jeans, I’ve always been a fan – well, since I started working at the age of 16 and was able to buy my first pair. And I’ve worn no other jeans in my adult life. I love the way they fit and feel.
I don’t even mind the rip in the pocket of my 560s™. Now, they have even more character.

The Buckeye Brothers say, I didn't think they made jeans that big,
Editor's note: I'm thinking The Buckeye Brothers and John are friends. At least, with this kind of comment, I sure hope so.

Monday July 12th 2010 I decided to ride my Harley Sportster to work at the Levi's, New York Regional Sales Office in midtown. As I headed uptown i was suddenly cut off by someone who decided to take a left turn in the middle of the intersection from a center lane.... after the collision i lost control and went down and skidded across the street!! My bike is totally smashed :( But surprisingly my Levi's Juniors leggings are in perfect condition and still intact.... and might i add I got a nasty cut on my knee that still hasn’t healed but there was absolutely no hole or rip in my jean legging!! Interestingly, every time I went out for a ride wearing my Levi's jean leggings I wondered if they were strong enough to withstand and accident and for the record... they do! Go Forth!
