What was it – five teens committing suicide in the past few weeks as a result of bullying? And those were just the ones that we heard about.
These tragedies occurred because the bullies believed their targets – the victims – to be gay. But no matter what you think about a person’s sexual orientation, you have to agree that bullying is bad.
We do.
Today, we’re proud to announce a $50,000 challenge grant for The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that provides a safe space – through its helpline and website – for young people, gay and straight alike.
For every dollar you donate to The Trevor Project, we’ll match it – up to $50,000. That’s $100,000 to take care of kids who could really use a helping hand.
We’re pleased that Levi’s® president Robert Hanson will make the announcement today, October 12, on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Ellen has been outspoken on the issue of bullying and a strong supporter of The Trevor Project. Check your local listings for when Ellen is on in your area.
We’re proud to partner with Ellen on this. And we encourage you to do the same. Visit Ellen’s website and look for The Trevor Project logo to make your contribution – one we’ll be happy to match.
Tune in. Donate. And – just maybe – save a life.
Update: Here's the video of the donation on Ellen:
