Be a Part of 501® History!

Who knew?

When Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis decided to use rivets to hold together the work pants they made for hard-working Western pioneers, they invented the first blue jean. Little did they know that the Levi’s® 501® jean would become an American icon, loved by generation after generation.

And it’s safe to say, no other product has been worn, loved or re-imagined quite like Levi’s® 501® jeans. They are the resilient and defining wardrobe staple of cultural leaders from presidents to musicians to movie stars.

The 501® jean has evolved over the years – to fit the need of each generation. But their original spirit lives on through the Levi’s® brand’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

And in the latest evolution, 501® jeans for men and women are now available in updated fits, finer fabrics and vibrant colors for spring – colors like mineral red, chalk blue, ivy green, true chino and white. While the jeans have evolved over time, we’ve kept their original spirit through our commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Throughout this birthday year, we’re also celebrating you, our fans, who have loved the 501® jean and made it your own through your style and originality. That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in making 501® history.

We’ve launched a digital photo gallery, where we’re sharing 501 photos of the best Levi’s® 501® style interpretations. To be considered for the gallery, send us a digital snapshot of your outfit through Facebook, Twitter or Instagram – just tag it #501.

The gallery photos will include images of friends and fans of the Levi’s® brand worldwide – that’s you! –  as well as famous faces from film, music, art and sports. Later this year, we’ll offer the gallery collection in a limited edition “Book of 501.”

So, throw on a pair of 501s® and show us your style. We can’t wait to see you!

I grew up wearing Levi's my husband always wore Levis and I even dressed my baby in Levis. I have been a loyal customer to Levis for 30+ years as has my family. I have read many comments asking you to bring back 100% cotton jeans and I can't imagine why you have not done so to date. I would like to see the low rise jeans in 100% cotton and I also think that making the 501's in a low rise version and 100% cotton would be a great seller. Some of us have short waist and need the lower rise. The stretch denim looks trashy and cheap regardless of your body type. And they just feel gross!!!! Jeans are meant to be made of 100% cotton. There are plenty of companies out there making cheap trashy looking jeans, you would stand out and offer something that no one else is offering. HMMM sounds like good business to me!!

My husband and I are old West re-enactors and as such we are only allowed to wear authentic clothing of 1850-1900. Many of our members wear 501 Levi's with the belt loops cut off and suspenders attached. I only wish we could get hold of copies of the original label instead of the new one that is sewed on 501's today. I suppose the print on the pocket inside is closer to the original than the one on the outside.
