2005 Philippines eyeglasses assistance program

As Red Tab Foundation (RTF) visited the company’s owned and operated facilities looking for new ways to be able to assist employees and retirees around the world, they learned that in the Philippines, affordable vision care was a challenge that faced many LS&CO. employees and retirees.

To address the issue, RTF worked with human resources partners at the LS&CO. Philippines facility to design a unique program for their sewing plant workers that provided 151 employees and 47 retirees with brand new eyeglasses.

Here is what some grant recipients had to say:

“I really need glasses but we need to eat first. I really can’t afford to buy them if not for Red Tab.”

“My glasses were being secured only by scotch tape. I just can’t squeeze in to my budget to buy a replacement with so many other expenses. But it isn’t embarrassing to seek help.”

“These new eyeglasses are really a great relief! The one I had before was a lower grade. I told myself to endure until I could afford to buy.”

“I have difficulty sewing, particularly with black fabric, that’s why I wear glasses at work. But as you know, the kids’ needs come first.”

“I just bought eyeglasses for my mother. I told myself I’ll buy mine later when I have the money. I’m so pleased that Red Tab has offered help.”
