Our Approach

Since 1991, both our code and our approach to responsible sourcing have significantly evolved. Today, our Global Sourcing and Operating Guidelines are the cornerstone of a unique and comprehensive three-level approach to responsible global sourcing that addresses core issues at the factory, community and government levels.

• The Factory Level — Our Terms of Engagement (TOE) Program
  Our TOE is our supplier code of conduct. The TOE covers specific business practices of our suppliers, such as fair employment, freedom of association, worker health and safety, and environmental standards, among others.
• The Community Level — Workers' Rights Grants
  The Levi Strauss Foundation's philanthropy includes a focus on strengthening workers' rights and improving working and living conditions in communities where Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&CO.) has a manufacturing presence.
• The Government Level — Trade/Labor Policy and Advocacy
  LS&CO. works closely with governments, nongovernmental organizations, industry associations and other stakeholders to strengthen implementation and enforcement of labor laws in countries where we have a business presence.
